The Super Special Stage “Meduna”, which started today at 3:35 p.m. from the Pordenone Headquarters, defined tomorrow’s starting order for bikes and quads.

Oscar-Romero-prologo

Leader of the prologue has been the young Spanish biker, Oriol Escalè (HM Crf 450 - Petromiralles Team), just 20 years old; after a 9’36’’ride along the 11 km, he didn’t seem to worry about the Selective Section of the Italian Baja, as it was plenty satisfied and declared to enjoy the track. Alex Zanotti (TM EN 450 – Racing Team), already demonstrated a great performance: the expert biker from San Marino, who already took succesfully part to 7 races among enduro and Italian rallies, ended the prologue in a 9’47.4 time with a gap of 11.4 from the first biker. The Spanish rally rider Oscar Romero gained the third position riding his quad KTM 525 (Knightfrank-Quadtro Team), ahead the Polish Jakub Przygonski (KTM 450 - Orlem Team), vice-champion in charge of the Cross Country Rallies World Championships, who came to the Italian Baja with his desert bike, admitting: “I know I cannot be competitive riding my heavy bike in such a fast race here in Pordenone, anyway the Italian Baja is a great chance for me to taste the bike at the beginning of the Season and to have a good training for the Cross Country Rallies World Championships 2012”. Alberto Basso (Honda Crf 450 - BRP Team), winner among bikes in the last two editions of the race, seized the fifth position, declaring “I don’t like wet races”; bikers, in fact, had to face fords deeper than they were supposed to be, with negative consequences for everybody; the Russian quad rider Dmitry Pavolov (Honda Trx 700 - RRClub-Russia) had to wait for help as he could not go out of a ford. The sixth position has been gained by the young biker Manuel Lucchese (Husaberg Fe 570 - HusabergFactory Team), for the first time at a rally race, ahead on Andrea Brunod (Honda Crf 450 - AB Rally Team), the biker from Val d’Aosta, who took part for the third time to the Baja with the aim of well concluding the Baja World Cup 2012, as previous results at the Baja Championship 2011 were quite brilliant. Oriol’s brother, Gilbert Escalè (450 – Petromiralles Team), will be the 8th biker leaving the starting line Tomorrow, followed by the Spanish quad riders Alberto Prieto (Yamaha Yfm 700 - Knightfrank-Quadtro Team) and Jose Luis Espinosa Garcia (Can Am Autlander 800 - Caballero Negro Team). The last biker of the Prologue was the Italian Sebastiano Demurtas (Honda Crf 450) who lost time stopping in a ford, followed by the quads of the Russian Vadim Kuvshinov (Honda Trx 700 – RRClub-Russia), the American Luis Henderson (Yamaha 450 - Pedrega Team), who unfortunately hurted his knee during a fall and doesn’t assure to be able to continue, and the only female rider Emmanuelle Clair, the French lady who will face her first Baja riding her quad Yamaha Yfm 700 (Audemar – Yamaha France).
